John Gorka

John's rich multi-faceted songs full of depth, beauty and emotion have gained attention from critics and audiences across the country, as well as in Europe where his tours have led him through Italy, Belgium, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Switzerland and Germany. His material is championed by many -- to date more than a score of artists have recorded and/or performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Mary Black and Maura O'Connell. He has shared tours with many notable friends -- Nanci Griffith and Mary Chapin Carpenter among them. His energetic acoustic music is not a trend, not a fad, but an expression of everyday life.

"Scathing beauty...Gorka makes even the harshest observations beautiful."
- Dallas Morning News

Enoch Kent

Legendary Scottish-Canadian Songsmith
Canadian Folk Music Award winner
Traditional Singer of the Year
OCFF Songs From the Heart Award winner

Enoch's collections of songs include such original gems as the "The Farm Auction," (recorded by Garnet Rogers, The McCalmans, Jean Redpath and others), "No More Cod On The Banks," "The Widows O' War," "Edinburgh Maggie," and "I Didn't Raise My Son To Be A Soldier."

Enoch's music is treasured by both traditional and contemporary music enthusiasts with a passion for story-songs, love and betrayal ballads, and gritty politics. While his songs are deeply rooted in the Scottish style, much of his subject matter is Canadian, giving his music a unique cultural blend. What's more is Enoch's natural storytelling style complemented by a ferocious wit and kitchen range warmth.

Opener: Tom Kastle
Tom Kastle has spent over two decades "on the road" and "on the water" as a singer, tall ship sailor and captain, songwriter, and teller of tales, both personal and those steeped in tradition. As half of the maritime folk duo Tom & Chris Kastle, he toured throughout the United States as well as Ireland, Scotland, Poland, the Netherlands, and NewZealand delighting audiences and producing 11 recordings plus a soundtrack for PBS (WTTW Chicago). After taking most of a year off to captain a tall ship in South Haven, MI, Tom has relocated to Madison, WI.

Bryan Bowers

For nearly three decades, Bryan Bowers has been to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the five-string banjo. He presents instrumental virtuosity combined with warmth, eloquence, expression and professionalism. From his rather unglamorous beginning as a street singer, Bryan Bowers has become a major artist on the traditional music circuit. Bryan has a dynamic outgoing personality and an uncanny ability to enchant a crowd in practically any situation. His towering six foot four inch frame can be wild and zany on stage while playing a song like `Dixie' and five minutes later he can have the same audience singing `Will The Circle Be Unbroken' in quiet reverence and delight.

"Bowers is widely regarded as the leading virtuoso on the autoharp... Bowers also has distinct gifts as a singer and songwriter."
- People Magazine

James Keelaghan

Called Canada’s finest singer-songwriter by one of the most respected music journalists of the last 50 years, James Keelaghan is an artist who has proven to be a man for all seasons. For almost a quarter of a century now, this poet laureate of the folk and roots music world has gone about his work with a combination of passion, curiosity intent and intensity. His masterful story telling has been part of the bedrock of his success, earning Keelaghan nominations and awards - including a Juno (Canada's Grammy) - and acclaim from Australia to Scandinavia.

Possessed of an insatiable appetite for finding the next unique story line, Keelaghan forges his pieces with brilliant craftsmanship and monogrammed artistic vision, making him one of the most distinctive and readily identifiable voices on both the Canadian and international singer-songwriter scenes. His songbook has enlightened, enthralled, and been embraced, by audiences around the world.

Bill Staines

"Any new song that can live comfortably beside the well-worn songs of folk tradition has a good chance of surviving the test of time. Such, we believe, are the songs of Bill Staines."
- Charles "Sandy" Paton, Folk Legacy Records

For over thirty five years, Bill has traveled back and forth across North America, singing his songs and delighting audiences at festivals, folksong societies, colleges, concerts, clubs and coffeehouses. Singing mostly his own songs, he has become one of the most popular singers on the folk music circuit today and averages around 200 concert dates a year. Bill weaves a magical blend of wit and gentle humor into his performances, and as one reviewer wrote, "he has a sense of timing to match the best stand-up comic." His music is a slice of Americana, reflecting with the same ease, his feelings about the prairie people of the Midwest or the adventurers of the Yukon.

Peggy Seeger

PEGGY SEEGER, member of the North American musical Seeger family, is a singer of traditional Anglo-American songs and an activist songmaker. Considered to be one of N. America's finest revival singers of traditional songs, Peggy has also written music for films, television and radio. She has collaborated on books of folksongs with Edith Fowke, Alan Lomax and Ewan MacColl. She has made 22 solo LPs and collaborated with other performers (Tom Paley, Mike Seeger, Guy Carawan, Ewan MacColl) on more records than she can remember. In the mid-1970s she began to concentrate on feminist and ecological issues. Peggy plays six instruments: piano, guitar, 5-string banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, autoharp and English concertina. She now lives in Boston, Massachusetts, and tours regularly worldwide.   [MORE...]

"For me, the Peggy Seeger concert was a trip to the past -- so many coffee houses, hootenannies, and sing-alongs in the '50s and '60s, so much outrage, so much hope, so many dreams. It was a reminder of our heritage of ballads and story songs -- of our country and its roots in the Old World."

In addition to his successful solo career, Jack's credits include guitar work with legendary singer/songwriters Mickey Newbury, Harry Nilsson, Tom Paxton, Peter Yarrow, and Steve Gillette, among others. [MORE...]

"If there is anyone not familiar with Jack's incredible songwriting and prodigious performance skills, my sympathies to you. A Jack Williams show is a slam-dunk win-win-win for all. One of the most enlightened and entertaining performers I've ever encountered."
- Dave Humpreys, Two Way Street Coffeehouse in Downers Grove IL

* * * * *

Most people know of Ronny Cox's acting career, but not so many know of his life-long love and dedication to music. These days, Ronny spends about half of his time acting and the other half as a singer/songwriter performing at folk festivals, concert venues and small intimate theatres.  [MORE...]

"...[Cox] played slithery corporate snakes in "RoboCop" and "Total Recall;" but as a singer-songwriter, he is a study in easygoing amiability and unforced charisma. He charms crowds with self-teasing humor, tart progressive insight, and a lulling Southwestern folk sound..."

Eliza Gilkyson

Grammy-nominated Eliza is the daughter of legendary songwriter Terry Gilkyson and grew up in Los Angeles knowing that her life would revolve around music. "I got into it for all the wrong reasons, more as a survival tool than anything else, but it proved to serve me more than I dared to imagine." As a teenager, she recorded demos for her father, an accomplished songwriter whose songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Dean Martin, Johnny Cash ("Memories Are Made of This") and the White Stripes ("Look Me Over Closely"), and whose credits include such standards as "Green Fields," "Marianne" and "The Bare Necessities" (from the Disney film Jungle Book).  [MORE...]
